Food Blog, Food Blog!
8:04 PMFirst up we went to a place called Agave Azul in Kirkman and Conroy. This is WAY out of our comfort zone of places to go around our area, but we had heard so many good things, we took a chance. Thank goodness we did.
Fresh Guac! Look how chunky and delicious!
The hubby had tacos, and an enchilada. I forget what else, but I do see black beans. He said it was yummy, I did not get to sample it.
My plate. I went all vegetarian that night and it was great. A spinach quesadilla, chili releano, and enchilada. With fresh veggies. Of course I couldn't eat it all so I had a great lunch the next day as well.
I am not a big drinker, and I sure do not like Margaritas. I like sweet stuff, and I think a 'rita is too bitter for me. However, the hubby LOVES them. Look at the size of those things.
I could not believe how inexpensive this place was. Look at how much that HUGE margarita was. Only 2.99? WHAT!
Overall I highly suggest Agave Azul. It's in a strip mall which is weird, but it doesn't look anything like that inside. They even have outdoor seating.
Up next the hubby on Saturday night challenged me to make Key Lime Cupcakes. Like I said before I am good going off recipes, so Mrs. Betty Crocker helped me out and I made some FANTASTIC cupcakes, all from scratch...well almost.
They look really green, I didn't use food coloring, it is from the lime gelatin you put in with the batter.
You make your own frosting. Cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar, and butter. Hubby and I just wanted to eat it out of the bowl. It was so delicious. Frosting I HATE YOU! I did get to use my fun mixer that I got for the wedding.
So here are some done cupcakes and then some in process. Before you frost them you glaze them. That is what the ones in the foreground have going on. They were glazed with key lime juice and powdered sugar. TASTY. Hubby made me get them out of the house today, or the rapture would happen in the Dennis household.
Last in this food porn blog, is our beer pairing dinner at The Ravenous Pig. I had heard about this place a while back and everyone I talked to LOVED it. I was worried that when I tried it I'd feel it was over hyped. NO SIR, hype is correct. It's fantastic! The owners and head chefs (husband and wife) really know what they are doing. Hubby and I went on Friday night and learned about this beer pairing on Sunday, we were in. The brewery was Terrapin and as coincidence has it I had been planning on taking Daniel for his birthday to this brewery when we go to Georgia. Let me just tell you, if you get a chance to go to one of these pairings, it is so worth it. Everyone sits family dining style, you meet really great people and you taste some WONDERFUL food and drinks. I kept forgetting to take pics, so sorry for the lack of them. Just trust me and go.
Menu, enough said. If you are a vegetarian, you probably would have stayed away from this meal, because it was called the head to tail dinner, so every part of the pig was used. Except the lion cause everyone has tasted that.
This was the starter. Beer and a pork sandwich. I could have eaten the biscuit that this was on all night.
That's not wine in the background, that's beer. This was the tortellini and clams. The broth was fantastic, and hubby's favorite dish.
And for my favorite, dessert. This is a cherry pie, which has some pig fat, I think, in the crust. It was a long night and after that much beer and food you barely remember the last of it. But dessert, so good, and the ice cream, yes there is bacon in that. See the piece of bacon up top? That was in the ice cream. Sounds weird, but oh so good.
Okay, I have really rubbed this food in your face. Now it's your turn, tell us some place to go next. And make it a good one.

Go to Roy's on Sand Lake Road! It's absolutely fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, I have a pic of a receipt from a bar in NYC that's a wee bit more.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sausage...
My wife and I are coming to Orlando in July. We are for sure checking that Agave Azul place out. Good blog!
ReplyDeleteAgave Azul is a place that universal entertainment peeps frequent often. If you like fish their fish tacos are the best I've eaten at a local place.
ReplyDeleteThat guac looks Amazing... D and I may have to hit that spot in the future.
ReplyDeleteKeep the food posts coming!
The wife and I go to Agave Azul and we were also surprised how inexpensive it was for how 'upscale' it looks inside. WIth the square plates and the water-wall and all. This use to be a PR's which looked like a traditional run down cantina inside, but the food was more expensive.
ReplyDeleteI still have not figure that one out yet.
I recommend having a huge salad for lunch (to stretch out your stomach), then going to Agave Azul for dinner and crushing the burrito loco.
